A Closing Word: Before Next Winter
The attacker in Poland needed eleven quiet days. Every one of them happened on equipment the plant owned, on a network the plant could have watched. Winter is when heat matters most, and it is when this attack landed. Before the next one, ask your team three things:
- Is our private cellular network shared, or ours alone? Can devices on it reach each other?
- Which devices connect that network to our control systems? Do any still use factory passwords?
- Is anyone watching the traffic between the two?
If the answer to the third one is no, you have a second network nobody is watching.
